During our unit on shapes, students used the iPads to take pictures of different shapes they found outside and around the school. These pictures were uploaded to the SMART Board and we then used the shape recognition tool to find shapes in the images. This lesson was assessed formatively by judging whether or not the students were able to find shapes to take pictures of and then recognize the shapes in the pictures afterwards.

Students brought in different amounts of various items which were later hidden around the room. The students estimated the quantities at various stations, there was a prize for any student who guessed an item, other than their own, correctly. This lesson was assessed by judging whether student's responses were proper estimations, educated and relatively close, or if they chose random numbers.
Math Games
Math game rotations occurred on any day that the students had multiple math blocks in the schedule. New games and activities were introduced given the current curriculum outcomes. Students quickly became familiar with their various choices and were engaged throughout the entire math block, working independently or in groups.
