Teaching Philosophy
Much like myself, my teaching philosophy is ever-changing and growing with experience. Presently, my beliefs are grounded in the notion that children learn best when their education is acquired within a caring and supportive learning community. My goal, as a future teacher, is to create a community within my classroom. This community would provide students with a comfortable learning environment, one in which they would be able to gather knowledge without unnecessary anxiety and embarrassment. Learning communities should acknowledge the strengths and weaknesses of their members and provide instruction that will ensure optimal success among all students, regardless of their ability. In order to establish a community within the classroom, it is necessary to reflect upon the students’ home environments as well as their various learning preferences, styles and rates.
